Fins have always been a very important part of the total design of a Sunova Surfboard. With advancements in technology come benefits both in performance and understanding. For this reason we have chosen the FCS double plug as it is best suited to Sunova's extra flex range.


X2 Plug an FCS Evolution
After over 10 years in the market, FCS continue to be committed to the
constant improvement of their fin systems. From the original PVC to the release of the polycarbonate P2 plug in 2005, they now move into the next generation of FCS, the X-2 plug.


Introducing the FCS X-2 Plug
  • The plug has evolved.
  • The X-blend material was developed in conjunction with DuPont. It is a custom blend of Nylon types with 40% of glass fiber. The key properties of this engineering composite are:

    • - High stiffness
    - High tensile strength
    - Extremely tough (withstand repeated impact)
    - Dimensional stability
    - Highly resistant to abrasion
    - High melting point
    - Excellent chemical resistance
    - Good UV stability & weather resistance

X-2 Facts
  • Surf testing - 2500 sets tested globally. No report of broken plugs.
  • Impact testing - 40% stronger than P2.
  • Lateral Strain testing - 30% stronger than P2.
  • Torque testing - 10% stronger than P2.
  • Average strength increase is approx 35-40% compared to the P2 plug.
Performance Glass
Performance Glass (PG) material characteristics and flex pattern are identical to traditional fiberglass fins - a stiff base with subtle, responsive tip flex, amazing aesthetics and proven durability. PG fins are the perfect transition fin for surfers moving from glass-on fins to the convenience, accuracy and performance of FCS.

FCS Longboard Dolphins
FCS Dolphin – a good all-round fin which works well as a tri-fin or single. The base area gives you hold and drive throughout turns, while the tip’s smaller area and flex allows easy entry and exit while turning on any of our 96 models for added performance.

FCS Longboard Cutaways
FCS Cutaway – a good general all-round performance on all tri-fin set ups or as a single. The difference from the dolphin is the cut-out section of the base allowing less resistance during turns and makes the fin base twist, creating slightly more movement throughout the fin, livening up the board, making it more responsive and stops any cavitations during turns. The best option for stability while walking & trimming any of our 96 models.
