SURFING with Damian Lipscombe
Cottesloe SLSC surfer Jarrad Davies successfully defended his Australian title in perfect conditions at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast last week.
Following his win on home soil in 2009 and a bye last year, the burly goofy footer excelled in the peeling right-handers to win his second successive open men’s Australian SLS surfing title.
Through the gruelling two day schedule, which featured off-shore winds and pumping 1.2m to 1.8m (4 to 6ft) waves, Davies held his nerve and produce his best surfing in the finals.
He is now looking to continue his winning streak in the second round of the HIF Pro-Am series in Geraldton in May, having won the first in Gracetown last month.
