The Tech

A design driven by the need of competitive surfers to operate with a wide manoeuvre repertoire. Sunova Team Riders claimed that they were “totally blowing up on this board” so we named it the Nitro.

Generous curve through the middle of the planshape and a low rail designed for release. This combination gives the Nitro the ability to generate speed from the moment you stand up.

The Nitro has the wide point pulled back and a long nose entry so you can react spontaneously to split-second situations.

The thin tail and a flat bottom exiting the tail rocker make this board fly across dead sections. Loaded hard into the bowl under the lip, the flexing tail will fit tight and deep under a bowling lip then the rail springback acts like a slingshot as you are exploded into the next turn.

The Nitro, when all you wanna do is Blow Up!

Sunova – 20 years of advanced composite surfboard construction you can trust.

The Commitment

We want all our customers on the equipment that is perfect for them.

To get the most from your surfing, it is very important that your equipment is matched to your body weight, surfing style, ability, and preferred wave type.

Each location for surfing is different and some curves will work great in some waves and not in others. For that reason we have included our surfboard information to help you find a board that fits your unique needs.

The Optimum Wave Types on this page describes the types of waves that each shortboard model is designed for. In addition, the Sunova Weight / Skill Chart will help you select the board that best suits your size and ability level.

Sunova Nitro Review

By Jay DiMartino, About.com

No doubt, we live in a new era of surfboard design and manufacturing. Production techniques and imagination have finally come together after years of stagnation.

But much of this boom in production has resulted in a seemingly endless army of clone boards pumped off assembly lines worldwide.

One ray of light, however, beams from, who looks to be entering this fray with fresh and creative energy.

With a sense of exploration and wonder in their new line of boards, Sunova is incorporating parabolic rails, full balsa construction, and a focus on flex in their shapes.

I recently tried the Sunova Nitro (a full balsa, round tail, tri-fin) from Sunova’s 2008 line of short boards and long boards.
