Sunova Drifter 62 Quad Board Review

First impressions:

I thought the shape, finish, veneer, spray and look was awesome.

First Surf:

1st couple of surfs was good on a powerful beach break, went well, have been riding fish on everything for 10 months so quite a difference.

Over a bit of time:

Rode my Drifter Quad in all waves for a while, say 1/2 dozen surfs, struggles in smaller waves due to a couple of reasons: surf was bad for a while here; only surfing once a week or once a fortnight that is bad, got back on fish for 2 surfs in small stuff then got back on my Sunova on a smokin bank at Gunnamatta. As soon as I started paddling it all seemed to come together, board felt perfect in really fast, steep jacking wave head high and powerful. That is what I got the Drifter for. I was exited at 1st so rode it in waves it wasn't suited to but that all helped tune it in.  Looking forward to using on reef breaks say, Cathederal on west coast at 4-6 foot.

 

Right dimensions for me:

Regards board I do think perhaps I could go a bit thicker say 2 3/8 as opposed to 2 5/16.  I wonder whether age (43) and winter wetsuit and booties makes for a heavier user than if in boardies and rashie, I think maybe.
